Our children move into our Discoverers group when they are around two and a quarter years old. Again our room is set up with both a carpeted area and a hard floor area. This is the age that children usually start to concentrate for longer periods so we can engage them in stories and games, and in construction and small world play
They start to listen to guidance and understand our ‘Golden Rules’. Their social skills develop rapidly as strong friendships become really apparent and they learn how to play co-operatively with their peers. This room has all the same messy play opportunities on our hard floor as the children received in Adventurers, but the children use it in a different way.
