First Steps Nursery at New Mills

Our New Mills site is purpose built inside and comprises of four base rooms for children, a sensory room and a family area. The layout of our rooms has been carefully planned to give children the independence and freedom of choice.  It also enables staff and outside professionals the opportunity to work individually with children when needed or in small groups.

There is also an outdoor area that children access daily.

Our pre-school children are called Investigators

 All our meals are cooked fresh on premises at our New Mills site by our two chefs who are both highly experienced in producing a healthy balanced diet for the children.  The children enjoy an excellent range of different meals such as roast dinners, casseroles, cottage pie, fish pie, salmon and broccoli bake, cheesy veg bake, turkey jambalaya, lasagne, etc.  Tea is a lighter meal such as home made soup, savoury pancakes, toasties, etc. which again are all cooked on premises.  All our meals are nutritionally balanced and are followed by either fruit, yoghurt or a traditional pudding.  Children are also offered a healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack.

Children with dietary needs and allergies are all catered for in partnership with parents/carers.
